Modern Controls Form NOT looking up users (Email addresses or Names)

I have a modern App using all modern controls, the new Modern Form is connected to a SharePoint list with 3 columns for Users showing their Email Address & Name. The fields in the form will not search users when creating a NEW FORM and will not search users to edit existing entries.

Older forms which do not look any where as modern (good) work 100% fine, but the new forms do not work.

I have edited to show Fields - Email, but this makes little difference.

The field is shown in non edit mode in the attached image, it fails to work in either view or edit state.

Has anyone come across this issue/bug, if not, i will log it with Microsoft. Thanks.

can you pls add some more information to your issue
what are those fields in your SP list ? text fields ?

in your form what do you expect when a user creates a new one, the user should be able to search through users by start typing something and then a box should appear where users can be selected ?
what are the fields your are using in your form ? text input ?
in case you want the user to be able to search from a list try with combobox control.

In my SharePoint list the data is held in several columns, all PERSON OR GROUP Type with Photo displayed.

When editing this column data in an old type form, the users in my Company (AD) popup as searchable, in the Modern Form it appears to have 20 (ish) people listed and that is it, won't allow searching for others either - I would expect all the functionality of an old type form in the new modern form fields, but have nothing for email / people searches.

When a user creates a new entry, I would expect the entire AD list to be available / searchable as with the old type form, the modern forms are not searching, linking or displaying all the data like they should.

When you start typing, the user should become visible, but nothing happens in the modern form.

This is simply a form (modern) and fields of data in my case the issue is with the Person or group field not being searchable, I have tried everything and if this is not a Microsoft bug, then i will have to abandon all modern app work as we cannot afford the time on this any longer.

Thanks,

Hi

I have the same issue as I could not find Display Fields ["DisplayName","Email","Picture"] and ["DisplayName"] in SearchFields which I use this on Classic Edit Form

I assume you have found this issue?

Thanks for the update. It's pretty suck. They should build it before release.

Hi

After having a detailed discussion with Microsoft, it seems that the issue has been resolved and everything is working fine now.

Once you click the dropdown based on Choice in person or group from the SharePoint list

stevenpetersmi_4-1708440648680.png

Click on field -> edit
Add a field, such as name or email. there is list you want.

The number ID is gone,

When searching for employee names, only a limited number of results are displayed despite having 800 employees.

I am unable to collect all the names, even of my manager or colleague, as they are not on the list. Therefore, I have reported the issue to MS support for a fix. I will update you once they respond to me.

@stevenpetersmi unless they have fixed the problem, this is the same as I have been experiencing for months, yes. The bug where modern form person fields does not look up users is a poor one.

I have just tried again, and the person lookup is still broken in modern forms...

Yes, I agree. The View is fine, but Edit or New need to be fixed. They should build it before the launch of this modern form.
