Using a Text Input Field to Patch Claims Data to SharePoint List - missing column name? Error

I am creating an intake form for a SharePoint list and instead of a dropdown list, I wanted to use a custom Text Input field to search for users.  I'm having an issue with patching the new information to the list. 

My Text Input Default field is set to:

varSelectedPerson.DisplayName

and my custom submit button is configured as such:

The error i keep receiving is: 

I can at least say that the "From" field is not the column name I'm attempting to write to. It belongs to a hidden field that is set to default to the user that is putting in the information. 

this is the configuration for that column:

So the major questions I have are:

why would this keep getting hung up on a field that is being populated automatically and why would that affect my patch syntax for *another* field?

@iramos85 - the Claims token is expecting a unique identifier to identify the user, you cannot use random text.

Given your "varselectedPerson" Context Variable seems to be capturing the record, you should leverage the Email attribute of that record to patch Claims attribute:

    {
        'Member of the Team':{
            Claims:"i:0#f|membership|" & Lower(varselectedPerson.Email),
            Department: "",
            DisplayName: varselectedPerson.DisplayName,

        }
    }
);
SubmitForm(Form1)

Note above that odata is no longer required.

SO I guess I should have said this, but I have a data card that is already passing the information to the list, i'm just choosing to not use it. Another question I have is, is the presence of that card in my app going to cause an issue with the submission of my data?

The highlighted card contains the field that I am replacing with an input text field.  I would rather have a input text search and connected to a gallery while the user searches and finds user profiles - rather than the drop-down that was the default in the data card. 

Am I approaching the problem all wrong? I added your amended code to my submit button and the error I got was 

Network Error when using Patch function: An error occurred on the server.

I did have to update the code with 

varSelectedPerson.Mail

as it did not recognize

varselectedPerson.Email

not sure if that makes a difference or a typo. Regardless, I'm still not sure why my input text is still not being recognized when submitting

@iramos85 - I have read your reply a couple of times, and I still do not understand what you're currently doing or what you're trying to do.

For example, this suggestion of mine was not a typo:

varselectedPerson.Email

However, if the above does not work and this update of yours works instead:

varselectedPerson.Mail

Then that means you have modified the Items property of the ComboBox embedded into that DataCard to point to the Office 365 table (which you have not mentioned at all, but something I noticed).

It will be difficult to provide any support here because it I do not know what other random modifications you may have made or what else there is you have not explained.

Unless you can provide a clear explanation of what you're trying to do, I can only repeat what I stated before, the Claims token is expecting a unique identifier to identify the user, you cannot use random text.
