AI Builder Credits in Power Automate Plan - Usage

Hello,

I am thinking on purchasing the Power Automate per user plan with attended RPA that comes with 5000 AI credits and use them in a flow that processes forms (extracting data from a PDF file). I am having some troubles planning the credits requiered for that.

In the flow, I only need to extract data from 1 field of the first page of the document, and usually these documents have 5 pages each. Per month, a maximum of 1000 of these document may need to be processed (usually a lot less but just in case). Is the 5000 credits enough?, the AI builder calculator says that I have to purchase an AI builder add-on unit that comes with a million credits, but I think that is just too much.

I tested my flow using the trial license that comes with some AI builder credits (i do not know how many), and so far it has processed 370 documents and still says that there is some capacity left (13%).

How does the AI credits usage works for forms processing?, is it something like: '1 credit to process a 1-page document'?

Thank you.

Sergio

Hi,

There are two topics here

1. The number of fields in a page doesn't matter. Whatever you have 1 or 100 fields, it will always count as 1 page.

If your documents have 5 pages but only the first one is relevant, you can in the short term, split the PDF to only process the first page. End june, you will get the ability to define the pages to predict, so you could choose to only predict on page 1.

2. To extract only 1 field, you should probably use Text Recognition instead and do post processing on the result with pattern matching. This model is way cheaper than Form Processing and you can definetely process your 1000 documents with an RPA inclusion.

We are preparing the release of a flow template that illustrate how to do that. I propose to send an email to aihelpen@microsoft.com so we can have a quick call where we show you how to perform it.
