Hi Can someone help me with AI Builder pricing.,
I am using AI builder in one of of Automate/Flow. What will be the pricing when my trial is over?
Hi, I noticed two pricing, one of 500$ per month and other one of 40$.
The 40$ per month pricing lets me use it in Power Automate. The other one 500$ lets me use in PowerApps.
I just need someone from support or community to validate if my assumptions are correct.
Can anybody confirm?
Hi,
AI Builder capacity is sold through $500/month add-ons for 1,000,000 credits. The attended RPA plan also seeds 5,000 credits per user license per month. You can find details on both the Power Apps & Power Automate pricing pages: https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/ and https://flow.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/#add-on-plans . If you need to estimate capacity use, we also provide a calculator at https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/ai-builder-calculator/. Does this help?
Antoine
hi all, i "jump" uninvited in this thread with an addendum to the original question:
is a normal office 365 business license enough to add the AI builder capacity, or do i need to buy other additional licenses?
Thank you in advance!
Vittorio
Hi,
Can I also jump in on this thread? If you currently have access to power automate, does it mean that I will only need to add on $500/mth/user? Also, if a user has created an AI model, can this model be shared with other users who do not have the $500 add on?
Thank you!
Regarding the office 365 business license question, no this license isn’t sufficient to add AI Builder capacity. AI Builder is a Power Platform offer, you need either a Power Apps, Power Automate or Dynamics365 license to add AI Builder capacity.
The AI Builder add-on isn’t per user, it is for the whole tenant. When you buy AI Builder any user can benefit from it, you don’t need to buy an add-on per user.
Hi,
I am also jumping on this thread.
I am still confused.
My question is: Can I use the AI builder using the below subscription?
Yes you can.
I have the $40 monthly Power Automate per-user plan as shown above. However, when I just ran a flow it failed due to my most recent trial of AI builder having come to an end. After reading this thread, I still am unclear on this. Doesn't that $40 a month include access to AI Builder for up to 5000 credits without having to pay the additional $500 a month? If so, why did I have to extend the trial?
I also signed up for RPA with AI Builder for $40/month, and a flow recently failed after running just a few times indicating my AI Builder trial was over. This lead me to the Power Platform admin center (microsoft.com) - Resources - Capacity , where I discovered I had "0 of 5000 assigned" AI Builder credits.
It appears that you have to assign the credits to an Environment. I don't do anything with Environments in Power Automate and only discovered limitations when I tested using one, so I quickly abandoned the concept and all of our flows are in our default environment. Our default environment does not show up in Power Platform admin center, so I cannot assign the 5000 credits to the environment where my flows are all running.
So, now I have to go learn about Environments (in my spare time, apparently!) and see if that works. Microsoft does NOT go out of their way to make this simple!
Hi afmc2238, bu11frogg,
Thanks for the great questions & feedback. I'll try address them all, do let me know if I'm missing some.
As bu11frogg pointed out, today, the 5,000 AI Builder credits included in Power Automate per user plans with attended RPA need to be allocated to an environment to be used. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/ai-builder/administer-licensing#allocate-capacity for pointers. If no credits are allocated to an environment, users will be able to start a per user trial to try out AI Builder.
<spoilers>
We've heard the feedback loud and clear that that need to allocate credits is very inconvenient. To address that feedback, we've spent the past few months working on a change to the product which will remove that requirement, while still continuing to allow allocation for admins who wish to be intentional about credit usage. Unless we hit last minute integration issues, that change will light up in Jan 2022 at which point our hope is that this becomes a non issue.
</spoilers>
Please do keep the feedback coming!
Antoine
Antoine, thank you for that news! Knowing a change should be coming in January, I can focus on other work and let my manager know our AI flow may be down for only a few weeks once the extended trial runs out. That's very survivable as our only currently running-in-production AI flow, while helpful, is hardly critical.
As a side question, do you think it's worth learning about Environments? I just haven't had time to give them a second look since I first tried using Environments (after watching some Jon Levesque videos, of course!) a couple years ago. At the time I felt like I'd wasted several hours and gave up on the idea entirely. Plus, I learned a ton of other things from those videos that was actually useful to me, so I had plenty to run with. 😀
I'm glad you like the upcoming change 🙂
Depending on your processes it might be helpful to give environments a second look. Many companies use environments to differentiate different steps of their implementation processes, typically having dev environments, a user acceptance testing environment and a production environment. These allow reducing risk to disruption of production workflows when trying out new changes.
In the context of AI Builder, you can learn more about how we recommend using environments by reading the Governance whitepaper referenced at the top of https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/ai-builder/administer . (here's a direct link for convenience: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=103317)
It might be worth starting with the overall Power Platform view of environments, and more generally governance, first though: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/guidance/adoption/admin-best-practices .
Thank you, Antoine! Again, very helpful. I didn't make the connection between environments and governance, so thank you for pointing that out. I'll be sure to give them a 2nd look now!
Thank you SO much! This was exactly what I needed. Since I restarted my AI builder trial yesterday (since I was expecting my credits to automatically kick in and they did not), will the credits start being used now or when the trial expires again in 30 days?
Thanks, again!
I think the way it's setup today we always consume environment level credits if any were allocated, and fall back to user trial capacity if 0 credits were allocated to the environment. But I'm not 100% positive.
Note that we're somewhat lenient today with enforcement of allocated credit capacity, which will probably change progressively through out 2022.
Okay, thank you!!
