Add custom domain name - what happens to mycompany.powerappsportals.com domain?

I have a PowerApps portals site with a URL of the form https://mycompany.powerappsportals.com.

I want to add a custom domain. I know how to do this.

However, many of our users will have bookmarked the original URL. If I add a custom domain to the portal, what happens to the mycompany.powerappsportals.com domain? Will existing users still be able to use it?

If not, is there a way to redirect them to the new URL?

Thanks

Mike

Hi there,

You can leverage what's called a redirect URL

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/portals/configure/add-redirect-url

Also for those looking to see how to setup a custom domain name please refer here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/portals-administration/2-custom-domain

Thanks @dgoode .

I received an answer from @nhayduk as follows:

The powerappsportals.com domain continues to exist.

The only issue will be if you use an auth provider (for example, B2C) that uses Reply URLs. If you only have reply URLs configured for your custom domain, then users won't be able to login. But if you're not in that situation, then using the powerappsportals.com domain is fine.

@nhayduk  is Correct surrounding  old domain and auth providers. Both urls will work. But if you want to ensure that people are being forwarded to the new custom URL, the redirect option will help with that.
