PowerApps Licensing

Hi Team

 

I have a scenario and need to understand the licensing implications.

 

Scenario: PowerApps is set up at the reception of my office. User licensed for it is the receptionist.

Visitors/Guests walk-in to the office and submit their details via PowerApps. PowerApp is not shared to these guests/visitors.

Is this violating any licensing guidelines?

I see that there are people selling this kind of option and I know it can be done technically.  But as I already said, that means the visitors are using PowerApps.  If they are using PowerApps then based on what I read in the licensing guide they need to be licensed.

Assuming the receptionist is the one doing the input, No you aren't violating any licensing.  But if you set it up as a Kiosk using the receptionists login, then I think you are violating the terms of the license. Because in that case the guests/visitors are the ones actually using the product even though they aren't logging in to do it.

Thanks for the response.
But I have already read through the links and it doesn’t provide any information regarding my question.
As per the Powerapps partner website what I am asking is not violating licensing at all because there are similar solutions showcased there. https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/partner-showcase/spadeworx-software-services-visitor-registrat...
But I just wanted to be sure.
It would be great if you can provide a reply specific to my query.

We need help, soon!

Please advice about the issue stated below:

The customer is building 2 Powerapp Canvas Apps to be used by their consultants in the field. These PowerApps are developed on a Dev environment, tested on a Acceptance and deployed to Prod. These two Powerapps retrieve and save data to Dynamics 365.

Currently, the “Dynamics 365” connector is used to access Dynamics 365. Each user using these apps (and other functionality) will have the following license assigned:

As the statement in the Microsoft Blog stating “We recommend that customers migrate their applications with existing connections to the Common Data Service. This includes applications that use the Dynamics 365 connector.” and the latest Power Apps and Flow licensing guide (December 2019) we would like to migrate using the “Common Data Service” in the future.

Question: when migrating from “Dynamics 365” connector to the “Common Data Service” will the above licenses still work for our purpose? Table Appendix 😧 Dynamics 365 and Office 365 licenses that include Power Apps and Power Automate seems to suggest so but would like to be sure before moving there.

Unless you are accessing one of the restricted Dynamics Entities you should be fine with the Dynamics licenses for Flow and Power Apps.  Here's the cross reference list for restricted entities that require specific Dyanmics 365 licenses.  Its a bit out of date but should still cover what you need to know.
