A question about PDF file

Hi,

The workflow I created is to convert word documents to PDF versions and then these pdf versions will be sent to someone via email. But the pdf files are not editable if you don't download them or  if you don't have Adobe licence..

Is there a way to add a step in my workflow to make my documents editable ?

Oh, I see - yes, that's annoying!

It's a free add-on from Adobe that plugs into OneDrive / SharePoint, so if you link to a file there, you can make edits directly in the browser. The standard stuff like filling it out, signing, etc, is free - and then things like merging / converting is part of a plan. So it seems like what you need would be free.

It can take up to 48 hours to appear in the tenant (I've just installed this to my tenant - I've installed it successfully to other tenants before and quite liked it) - and I think it will solve your problem.

How do you mean, to edit it?

Like how someone might fill out a fillable PDF form? The type with the purple fields, that look like this

Or do you mean a different way to edit it?

Let's say it is a leave request form. An employee just inputs some personal information and leave type.  The form is converted to a PDF file , and then sent to his manager for processing. So his manager needs to add daily average hours, his signature and date to the form. My issue is that the manager cannot edit the form unless he downloads it.

Hahaha, I am noooo genius! I am just a process enthusiast. I appreciate the sentiment tho ❤️

I got in to test this, and, if you link directly to the file - it will not allow it. The user needs to click on the link in the browser to have the app trigger. So you could do something like this for your link:

https://YOURTENANT.sharepoint.com/sites/DocCtrl/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?FilterField1=...

Point at the specific ID, that'll take them to the place the file is stored, with only that file present.

When I click on a file, it goes to a URL of https://documentcloud.adobe.com/spodintegration/index.html?r=1&locale=en-us so it must be passing the info back and forward, so linking directly to that URL won't work.
