Account and Documents in dynamics 365

Hello Community Experts

Account folder name should not contain any GUID. Folder name should be created as following naming convention: [Account Name] [_] [Account ID in sharepoint when a document is uploaded in dynamics 365 for sales Account or in portals

Kindly advise

Sumaira Noor

Hi @Sumaira

Dynamics SharePoint integration can be configured using the out of box functionalities provided by D365. My under standing is you have a Power App portal where users can login to portal and upload the documents in SharePoint. If you looking for a custom specific option then you may need to use PowerAutomate for uploading the document. If you looking the standard folder structure then you can do this without PowerAutomate.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/manage-sharepoint-documents#step-2-set-up-s...

See section Set up SharePoint integration from Power Apps Portals admin center

When documents are uploaded in SharePoint by default it will create the name_GUID format of the record in SharePoint.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Hi @Sumaira

Try that HTTP method to rename the folder. Then check from Portal/D365 whether you can access the documents or not. If you getting any error after rename then check the document location entity. Document location entity holds the relation between SharePoint and D365 for documents. Try the folder rename manually to check whether you can access the documents from D365 portal or not.

Thanks

Thanks a lot for the response @v-bacao-msft

When a document is uploaded in power apps portals, it should save the document in dynamics 365 , which i believe is possible

And it should create a sharepoint folder name with the below convention

[Account Name] [_] [Account ID]

How do i achieve that?

Kindly advise on this

Best Regards,

Sumaira Noor

Hi @Sumaira

I still not getting what's your requirement is? If you could explain bit more about what you looking to do via PowerAutomate that will be helpful.

Thanks

@abmThanks a lot for the response

We are configuring a custom portal for dynamics 365 Account Entity

And the Account Entity has the document upload section both within dynamics 365 and dynamics 365 portals

When I upload a document in dynamics 365 Portal, it will be stored in dynamics 365 Account Entity and to its respective account folder in sharepoint

The Account folder in share point contains the folder based on record

For Example:

I have an Account named "ABC" for this separate folder will be created to hold documents from D365 to sharepoint

Another example Account named "XYZ" for this separate folder will be created to hold documents from D365 to share point

This ABC and XYZ will be suffixed with GUID

Whereas the client want it to be in the form of AccountName_AccountNumber

@abmKindly Guide

Hi @Sumaira

Thanks for your reply. If you looking for AccountName_AccountNumber format you need to think about overriding out of the box create folder operation or look into renaming the folder using power automate

https://www.cloudfronts.com/renaming-sharepoint-folder-using-microsoft-flows/

Also you need to look into document location entity records where you need to change the renamed folder name as well.

Thanks
