Approval flow

I have a document library in sharepoint with documents that need to be approved by three levels -L1, L2 and L3 (user fields).

I am capturing the reponse and comments in a custom field called Status. It displays data as

L1 -Approved - User's Name

Approver Comments

L2-Rejected - User's Name ...

The issue is that everytime the flow updates this status field a new flow gets kicked off and send the approval notice again. How best to go about this flow?

Re: Approval flow

Can you post a detailed screenshot of your approval flow? The built-in approval flows require a SharePoint list, check out Manage sequential approvals with Microsoft Flow in the official documentation.

If you are using a list, you don't put the approver comments in the Status field, because as you've likely realized, that is the field that kicks off the approval process. You'd add the comments in the Update item step, as seen below (purple box): Comments.png

Also, remember to make the comments required, if you need them:Required.png

If you're not using a list for the approvals, I'd be able to offer a better response as to why your flow isn't working after viewing your flow. You can do multi-level approval flows with document libraries, the process is just a bit different and requires a series of nested Conditions with Logical Expressions for each step in the approval process. Here's a snapshot of one of my three-level document approvals:DocumentsApproval.png

Re: Approval flow

My flow consists of three approval processes for L1, L2 and L3 approvers.

I have expanded L1 here to show the detailed steps. "Apply to each 8" steps is where I am updating the status column to capture approver information. And thats the step where the flow kicks off again and sends another email to the approvers.
