Archiving lists with sources from other lists

I have created a SharePoint list (List1) that has columns whose choices are populated by a different SharePoint list (List2).

List1 columns:

Name (dropdown list that pulls from a column in List2)

Date (automatically completes when you choose name. Source is List2)

Various other columns

List2 columns:

Name

Date

I set up a flow to archive list items when their date has past. It does the usual Create Item in Archive List and then it will remove the item from the original (List1) when the Date has past. It works fine. The issue is that the list items in List2 will need to be purged at the same time so the Archive List items lose connectivity to the Name and Date source, so the Name shows as "Unassigned". I don't care about the date, but the Name is important to keep. When i do the 'Create Item' it does not give me the option to use the value from the Name field so it can disconnect from the source. Is there a way to keep the value when creating the items?

I am fairly new to Flow so I may need detailed explanations.

Hi @jojo6x ,

Could you please share a screenshot of the configuration of your flow?

If the Name column in the list 1 is a choice type field, In the Create item action, you should be able to choose the value from the drop down list of the Name column in the Create item action.

When the new item is created, the item is sure be disconnect from the source and that will not cause the issue that you mentioned.

Best Regards,

Alice

It is a choice, but the choices are generated from another List2. The option I get is the Name ID.

I went a different route so i guess this question is now dead.
