Assigning a value to a variable via expression accessing value from Excel table

Goal:

Access a value from a table in Excel and assign it to a variable of type integer.

How I am trying to do it:

List rows present in a table, then

Compose to access last row in the table, then

Initialize a variable to equal a column in that row

The Flow:

I tried to break the process into two steps:

Step 1: assign the value to variable as string

Step 2: assign that string value to another variable, re-cast as an integer, like so:

5 hours trying to accomplish this very simple task.

Your help is very appreciated.
