Attach file to itself when item is created in SharePoint list

I'm working on a flow that creates a word document from a template when a SharePoint list item is created. First, I create the file, and save it in OneDrive for my records, this part works just fine, but then I would like to attach the created file to the SharePoint list item I just created. Unfortunately, I can't get this part to work.

I think that the issue is when I pick the File Content for the attachment.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, it was a server issue. There was a big delay, I've been told related to the bad weather in the south. For some reason the flow was trying to add the attachment just a few milliseconds before it could. It's working now. Thanks.

Hi @emfuentes27

The dynamic contents you have chosen are all right.

Please make sure for the same item, there isn't a pre-existing file name same as the attachment you want to add.

If this problem still exist, could you show me the error details for the step 'Add attachment'?

Hey @emfuentes27 @v-yiwenxie-msft ,

I am doing a similar Power Automate except rather than creating a word document in OneDrive I am creating it in SharePoint. Then I added an 'Update file properties' action and created quick parts to auto populate the word template that I have made. So, my issue is I am not for sure what the file content would be when I create the 'Add Attachment' action...any thoughts? I have already put file content for 'Create File' action. I noticed on that automate above that the file content is the word doc itself, is this document being created from a list item and being attached to the exact same list item?

Thanks,

Is there any difference between the Create File version, and the version after the Update File Properties? In my case I used the Word Document itself, and it worked just fine. If there is  no difference, you could probably just use the same Word Document as File Content. On the other hand, although, I haven't tried, I wonder if you need to do another Get File Content, after the Update File Properties, then get the ID, etc., and then Add Attachment. Try that and see if it works. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll play around a little bit when I finish another project I'm working on now.

@emfuentes27 I actually thought of what you are saying and was able to try it. It says the flow works but the attachment never shows on the list item. I went back and noticed a flow error, just after discovering the flow error my computer powered down, I think due to the error it was over heating. Here is the flow and the error that showed.Flow Error 1 .pngFlow Error 2 .png

@Anonymous Usually that means that Flow is asking yo to set some kind of filter in the Get File step to avoid an infinite loop.

@emfuentes27 I have been working with the flow again but I don't quite understand what kind of filter would be needed in the get file step. The 'Get File Content 2' I think is the issue, because before adding it the flow worked fine except it just did not add the word document as an attachment it only created it and placed it in a SharePoint Document Library.
