Auto fill/suggest field name

Hi,

I have an excel sheet of Order Numbers (PO) which have different items in it. It looks like this:

yashm_0-1623058340956.png

I have made a manual trigger flow where I enter the respective PO number and the flow updates the Status column for all the line items to 'Received'. Like this:

yashm_1-1623058465163.png

This is how the flow looks like:

yashm_2-1623058569228.png

yashm_3-1623058623468.png

This is how I use it on the Flow app:

The flow is working fine. The only problem is I have to type in the entire PO number. It's usually 9 characters long. I want to have a function wherein I type the first 2-3 letters or any characters of the PO number, it should suggest the same to me and I click on it.

For e.g., I type, "LM100..", I should get the suggestion of "LM1000568" and then I click on it.

I think something like this can be achieved using Power Apps although I've never used them before. Can you tell me how can I use Power Apps to achieve this search function and integrate with the flow? Basically the same flow as above but the auto-fill suggest feature should suggest order number when I type in a few characters. Thanks in advance!

Hello @yashm ,

Perhaps you can try Combobox in PowerApps. I have described the steps below

  1. Create a Power App, add a connection to your Excel File
    1. Click on Data from the Left Navigation
    2. NiloferA_0-1623064428425.png
    3. Click on Add Data and under Connectors locate Excel Online and click on it
    4. NiloferA_5-1623064837184.png

    5. You should see a list of Connectors to Excel Online, select one of them or add a new connection
    6. After selecting the connection, you should see a right panel to choose the data set, select the "OneDrive for Business" as I see you are accessing your file from OneDrive in your Flow
    7. NiloferA_1-1623064674209.png
    8. Select One Drive again and then select your file from OneDrive
    9. NiloferA_2-1623064753723.png
    10. Select the Table
    11. NiloferA_3-1623064776265.png
    12. Select Sr No as the Unique Field and click on Connect

  2. Add a Combobox and select the DataSource
    1. NiloferA_6-1623064880407.png
  3. Configure the Combobox as follows
    1. Click on Edit near Fields and select PO as Primary Text and SearchField
    2. NiloferA_11-1623065425660.png
    3. In the Properties, set Allow searching to true
    4. set Allow Multiple Selection to false
    5. NiloferA_7-1623064955524.png
  4. Change your Flow trigger to Power App and where you are passing PO Number in Filter, replace it with "Ask in PowerApps" Dynamic Content
  5. Add a Button in your Power App, and go to Action and select Power Automate
    1. NiloferA_8-1623065198991.png
  6. Select your Flow from the List and complete the Formula in OnSelect of the Button as follows

I am not exactly sure if this will work.

But instead of text input for entering PO number. take one combo box. In it's item property set Distinct values from PO number column.

turn on search property of combo box and once you start typing in number it will show you list of po numbers that contains your initial letters.

Hi,

I haven't used Power Apps before but I get what you're saying. Can I use the power app to trigger the flow and update the excel sheet? If yes, can you tell me how that connection works?

Let's say I choose the excel file with the data as the source for the Power App. Then I add the combobox function to it. From thereon, what's the next step. Can the power app send the selected PO number to the flow? Something like that?

I mean I have seen use cases where they you can update a single row using the Power App. But in my case I have multiple rows to update with the same value at once. How can that be done with Power Apps?
