Azure AD Alternate Email Address

Hello,

Is it possible to retrieve the "Alternate Email Address" field from an Azure AD user with Power Automate? I have been looking for several hours without finding.

Thank you already for your help!

Would be great if the update user action also supported this attribute.

Hello All,

Like you I have been searching for a connector to be able to assign a value to the "Alternate Email Address" field in AAD. What I have found is the following:

Field name for "Alternate Email Address" in Azure AD
Azure AD Graph API = otherMails
Azure AD PowerShell v1 (MSOnline) = AlternateEmailAddresses
Azure AD PowerShell v2 (AzureAD) = OtherMails

It appears you need to use the "HTTP with Azure AD" connector although I have not been able to figure it out (yet).

What boggles me is that neither the AD "Create User" or AD "Update User" steps have the option to assign a value to the "Alternate Email Address" field.

I will continue to look.

I know this post is old, but I believe I found a way to accomplish this with built-in connectors if you still need it.

Sounds good. I would be interested in learning more about what you learned.

However, I have been derelict in my duties as I have worked with Microsoft support and using MS Graph and a HTTP connector I was successful in updating the Alternative Email Address field.

For added bonus, I used the same MS Graph procedure to assign an Office 365 Business Basic license to the user. I have been working on this Flow since January 2022 and just got it to work fully and properly this last weekend.

Hi @mikepab

will you let us know the details?

Sure but I should point out 2 important details first

  1. I was only able to retrieve the alternate email. I did not try to update it.
  2. I am in no way an expert so there is probably a better way to do this 🙂

So I was able to use Office 365 Users > Get user profile (V2) to get this information. The Get my profile (V2) action works for this too.

  1. Add the Get user profile (V2) action.
  2. Type in the UPN, click Show advanced options, and type in otherMails
  3. Add a new step and select Initialize variable
  4. Give it a name like OtherMail, set the type to String, and paste this as the value @{outputs('Get_user_profile_(V2)')?['body/otherMails']}. You can use @{outputs('Get_my_profile_(V2)')?['body/otherMails']}
  5. The output is saved as ["email@domain.com"] so I used the Compose action along with some functions to remove the extra characters/
  6. Add a new step and select Compose
  7. For the Inputs, click Add dynamic content, click Expresion, and paste the following substring(variables('OtherMail'), 2, sub(length(variables('OtherMail')),4)). Replace OtherMail with the name of variable in the previous step.
  8. The Compose out put can then be used in future actions.
