Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

Hello,

I have a simple flow that copies an original file to the same place with a different name, but while copying it i always get the following error:

{
  "status": 423,
  "message": "The file is currently checked out or locked for editing by another user.",
  "source": "api.connectorp.svc.ms"
}
After this i can't manually remove the file even tho i am the only owner, before running the flow i can do it,

here is just a simple example of my flow:
image.png

I am the only owner of the file and the file was created 5 min ago before making this flow and closed meanwhile testing the flow and now i can't remove the file.

Thanks.

@Sharaz:

Can you post a screen shot of your entire Flow?

@Sharaz:

Help me out as I am a bit confused.  In your original post, you say that you copy a file to the same location with a new name.  In your screen shot, I see a trigger for when a new entry is created and a delete file action.  I don't see an action to copy the file.

Also, I am not familiar with the connector you are using for "When a new entry is created"  - can you tell me more about it?  I don't recognize the icon.

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

Hi @ScottShearer im sorry about the confusion, my first description was about the original flow, the one im showing is the part of the main flow that is not working, i have extracted it in a single flow to test it and debug, and the trigger ur confused about is:

image.png

A simple submit on an online form.

Instead of simplifying my flow i will try to explain it better:

I have the tow following excel files:

image.png

When a trigger is submitted (when a form is filled):

image.png

THe thing is when this action triggers i get the following error in the first copy action:

{
  "status": 423,
  "message": "The file is currently checked out or locked for editing by another user.",
  "source": "api.connectorp.svc.ms"
}

Even tho the excel file is closed and its private and no one is using it!,

I decided to creat previously SafetyDataSheetChemeter.xlsx to get the table design and the columns.

Thanks!

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

@Sharaz:

Thanks for the additonal information.

While I need more time to test, I suspect that reason for the error is that Flow may not be closing the file properly.

Can you try using a Create file rather than a copy file and see if that works better for you.  You'll need to use Get File  Content and possible Get File metadata in order to use the Create File action.

Please let me know if this works for you.

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

Hello @ScottShearer

Cold you please describe more that "Get File  Content and possible Get File metadata in order to use the Create File action" message, if i create a new excel I dont have table names neither the table columns to assign values:

Any idea so i can maintain the table and columns and create only one excel files?

Thanks!

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

@Sharaz:

Here is a screen shot of a simple Flow that uses a create File action.  In essence, you are copying the file but doing it a little differently.

Please let me know how it goes.

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

@Sharaz:

In the example that you posted, where does the error happen:

  • On the first copy file action?
  • On the Excel action?
  • On the second file copy action?

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

@ScottShearer, as you can see i need to have Table field, there is no error while copying this time but the problem is on assigning values on the new excel file, what can i do to get flow to know the tables and its columns?

Thanks.

Re: Cant copy excel business file with overwrite from OneDrive business

Hi All,

I don't know if that is the solution, but at least I had that problem "423". At first I had the file only "on-line" in SharePoint and also I tried on OneDrive. But those folders wasn't sync with my PC.

I tried in one SharePoint Folder sync with my computer and the same Flow works, then I sync the folder where it was the original file and works too.

Hope help you.
