Capture additional setup information in an approval flow

Hello.

My difficulty is this:

I have an existing two-stage approval flow that is working perfectly, however, I've been asked to capture additional information from the 2nd approver about the setup details: the flow works thus

1. Requester completes a form (created in InfoPath, hosted in SharePoint),

2. First Approver gives Yes/No based on request cost and technicals,

3. If No, then an email back to Requester advising No and Reason (from approval comments); If Yes then update list and forward to IT to action the request,

4. IT Action the request and trigger the 2nd approval.

5. Update the SharePoint list, and send emails to Requester and to Finance.

As mentioned, this flow is working perfectly.  But IT use a manual off-Flow step to tell the Requester the setup information for their request. I need this information captured against the existing list, and have created 3 new columns to hold the details.

My question is how to capture this setup information as a part of step 4. The request is to build a VM and the additional information is the DNS Name, the IP Address, and text instructions.

Thank you for any assists!

Hi @Anonymous,

Could you please share a full screenshot of the configuration of your flow?

I am curious as to what is the process of "IT use a manual off-Flow step to tell the Requester the setup information".
I'm afraid it is difficult to reproduce this configuration according to your description.
Could you share more about it?
It would be helpful if you could post more details or screenshot and we would provide a proper workaround for you.

Best Regards,

Barry

Thank you for your reply; I've restructured and rebuilt my flow from scratch which has eliminated the need for my request. My workaround is to send an email with a link to the "editifs" view of my form.  it works perfectly.

I appreciate your time.
