Change to expression not saving.

I am trying to use an if, then else within an expression (to populate a text field going back go PowerApps). 

 

I am changing: 

substring(variables('Expiry'),0,sub(length(variables('Expiry')),1))

 

to: 

 

if(equals(variables(hasOffers),false),'2,'1')

I can click save/update and no errors occur, but when I re-check the value of the expression, it's as it is before. The original formula is there, not the updated one. What am I doing wrong?

Never mind, I think I solved it Smiley Happy Had to put the variable in ' '. Now it's accepting the change (although odd that it doesn't throw an error without that).
