Check if a contact record already exists in Dynamics 365

I am trying to build a flow that will create a new Dynamics 365 Contact record if one does not exist, or update an existing one.

The flow is triggered when a form is submitted.

How can I check if a contact record already exist in Dynamics 365 based on the email that was submitted with the form?

I do not have Dynamics data at this point of the flow so I assume I should use get record or list.

When I use get record I am asked for the (Contact) item identifier which I do not have at this point in the flow.

When I try Get list I need to somehow filter it first, but then I'm not sore how to proceed.
Anyway, this is wher I'm stuck.

How do I check if an email exists in Dynamics 365?

Attached is an image of the current Flow.

Thank you

Re: Check if a contact record already exists in Dynamics 365

Hi OmSh,

It should be proper to use the action “List records”, but I don’t think the Filter query at here is needed.

After this action, add a Condition to check if the email that was submitted with the Form exists in Dynamics 365.

If yes, update the record, if no, create a new record.

Please try to create and run the flow on your side.

Best regards,
Mabel Mao

Re: Check if a contact record already exists in Dynamics 365

Hi Mabel Mao,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried your idea.

The flow does not find an existing record with the same email as was submitted in the form.

Instead, it creates new contacts as the number of records that the list returns (all the records in the CRM).

Any ideas what I should do?

Thank you

Re: Check if a contact record already exists in Dynamics 365

Hi Mabel Mao,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried your idea.
I have to filter the results because it only returns about 514 from the list records.
Any idea of how to do this?

Thank you
