Convert "Created" SharePoint list field to a number field with value "yyyymmdd" using When an item is create; updat item

Hi There,

Hoping someone can help, i am building a Day Log PowerApp -

-Step 1 - content type

-Step 2 - create list

-Step 3- create PowerApp from list page

-Step 4 - when trying to use date field for filter function on PowerApp the blue line of delegation issue comes up

-Step 5 - do some research, recommendation is to convert the "Create" sharePoint list item field to a number.

-Step 6 - can't get Flow to update the item, as it throws an error stating that "Created" date time format does not match ISO8601 requirements - formula used in update item -        formatDateTime('Created'','yyyymmdd')

-Step 7 - please help me

Hi @MattJ

you are using created as a string

it needs to be dynamic content value for the created column

your expression should look something like

formatDateTime(body('Get_item')?['Created'],'yyyymmdd')

Hi Reza,

Really apreciate you getting back to me so quickly.

Just a question for clarification:

The formula you have provided

formatDateTime(body('Get_item')?['Created'],'yyyymmdd')

The formula i have inputted is below

formatDateTime(body('Update_item')?['Created'],'yyyymmdd')

returns the followng error

The template validation failed: 'The 'inputs' property of template action 'Update_item' at line '1' and column '1695' is not valid. The action cannot reference itself.'.

Do you have any suggestions how i can fix this?

thanks

Matt

Hi @MattJ ,

Could you share a screenshot of the Flow configuration?

The Error message mentions that you are referencing the value of the current action itself, so this error occurs.

You need to reference the value of the action output above and use a function to convert it.

Please provide more details so that we can provide the appropriate workaround.
