Create Sharepoint item from new (only) email, not from reply

Hi all

 

I've not been able to find an answer to my question, so apologies if i thas been addressed in the past and I've missed it.

 

I have successfully created a  Flow which creates a SharePoint list item when an e-mail (any email) arrives into a shared mailbox.

However, it also creates a new item when that e-mail is actually a reply - which I don't want to happen.

 

Is it possible to separate New e-mails from replies? And no... not all reply subjects start with 're' so I can't rely on that as a filter.

As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to differentiate based on any message/trigger properties.  You'd have to find something else to filter on, some content in the body or something. 

Or, prior to creating the sharepoint item, check to see if it already exists (assuming everything is unique or you can otherwise properly identify it)

I agree with @SCTdan 's solution.

You need to find something to filter on the body or subject, or check from the list items to see if the item exists now.

Thanks for the advice. It has encouraged me to approach it slightly differently. Here's what I eventually put in place:

 

I found (through the power of Google) that each email has an 'internet header' and within it is an indicator as whether the email is a reply or not. Unfortunately, Flow doesn't seem able to read that, but Outlook Rules can. So, I'm using the Rules to redirect any new-new emails to a separate folder... Flow runs based on anything arrived in that folder, creates a SharePoint item and moves the email back into the normal inbox.
