Create link to Office 365 email?

I've created a flow that will create a Todoist task whenever I flag an Office 365 email. I'd also like to generate a web link to the original Office 365 email. Is this even possible?

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

Hi Brooks,

If you meant the todolist task link, this cannot be achieved so far in flow.

You could post this idea in the Flow Ideas forum, so it might be considered for future releases.

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

Any luck?

I see you're talking O365 web mail, but I'm looking at similar trying to link to Outlook. I saw that outlook:guidOfEmail should work, but I can't get it to run on Win10 with Office 2016/365. Pops up saying can't find an app. I've seen the same links work for onenote:urlToPage, but it appears Outlook is stubborn

any luck... seems like an obvious thing to want to do.  Surprised there isn't a solution for this easier to find!

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

I have a separate thread in the Outlook community asking how it's done, but doesn't appear to be promising. I went ahead and created the search filter I'd need, like "from:[From email] subject:"[Subject]"" and I can copy/paste that into Outlook search to find my item...

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

David, have you tried to play with "outlook:<ID>" instead of "outlookmail:<ID>" if you really have valid ID?

You'll need to enable "outlook protocol" first http://www.slipstick.com/problems/outlook-missing-outlook-protocol/ and then get proper ID.

The difficulty I have with Flow is that message ID that it retrievs in Flow is not the same ID that is obtained via a macro that is run locally in Outlook (like mentioned here https://superuser.com/questions/71786/can-i-create-a-link-to-a-specific-email-message-in-outlook).

So ID that I get from local Outlook macro works just fine with "outlook:ID", but the one from FLOW looks differently and doesn't work with "outlook:ID" stating the item can't be found

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

I have not tried that yet, and given your follow on comments about the Flow ID, not sure I'll waste the time 😉

What I did for a workaround is create a search string so I can copy/paste that quickly and find the mail, like

Search outlook with

from:FromEmail subject:"Email Subject"

Hi there, any progress on this? Maybe after a year some new features allowed this to be achieved?

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

Is there even a way to manually get a link from within outlook?

I also tried searching solution for getting Global Identifier (GUID) or Entry ID of an Outlook email. My purpose was to generate reference/hyperlink to that Outlook email from a task list that I maintain in excel. But no success.

I very much liked your idea of creating a search filter (I will call it as Search Query Identifier). Below is a short Outlook VBA macro I assembled to generate such Search Query Identifier with help of other internet articles. Hope to give back some value for your idea. Format I could reckon would be unique is sent: + from: + subject:

___________

Sub Search_Query_Identifier()

Dim myMail As Outlook.MailItem
Dim Text1, Text2 As String

For Each myMail In Application.ActiveExplorer.Selection

Text1 = "Sent on: " & myMail.SentOn & vbCr & _
"By: " & myMail.SenderName & vbCr & _
"Received at: " & myMail.ReceivedTime

Text2 = "sent:=" & Format(myMail.SentOn, "dd-mm-yyyy") & " " & Format(myMail.SentOn, "hh:mm") & " AND from:" & Chr(34) & myMail.SenderName & Chr(34) & " AND subject:" & Chr(34) & myMail.Subject & Chr(34)

InputBox Text1, "Search Query Identifier (SIQ)", Text2
'Manually copy Text2 by pressing Ctrl+C on PC

Next

Set myMail = Nothing

End Sub

Re: Create link to Office 365 email?

Hi

I too am looking for this. I am an old Lotus Notes user (past 23 years) it has been a feature in notes for at least a decade or more and really handy.

Too bad.
