Creating Planner tasks from Outlook tasks

Hi There

I am trying the gerry-rig a solution to not being able to upload directly into planner. I know you can create a flow to do it for you but i haven't had much luck with it. What i am doing instead is uploading tasks into Outlook and have them create tasks in Planner. The problem is you can't assign tasks from an upload in Outlook and when i did it manually i had trouble with the field coming across to Planner. Instead i have created buckets for each assignee with their initials and am dividing up the subject line of the outlook task so that the first 2 letters are the bucket name and the rest is the title of the task. e.g. HH Report Due for XX. I have used the below expressions in order to divide up the subject line but they are not working.

For the bucket

substring(string(triggerBody()?['Subject']),1,2)

For the title
substring(string(triggerBody()?['Subject']),3,string(triggerBody()?['Subject']),3,sub(length(string(triggerBody()?['Subject'])),3))

the triggerbody is from the dynamic 'Subject' that i have just added from the list

I am not totally in love with this idea so if someone else has another suggestion i am open to hearing it and any help you can give.

Kind regards

Holly

Re: Creating Planner tasks from Outlook tasks

Hi @HHoward ,

 Please take a try with expression below for the bucket:

substring(triggerBody()?['Subject'],0,2)

 Please take a try with expression below for the title:

substring(triggerBody()?['Subject'],2,sub(length(triggerBody()?['Subject']),2))

Best regards,

Alice
