Creating an Approval Process for Word Documents with item permissions

Hi,

Does anyone know of a good guide showing how to create an Approval process using powerapps and flow, or SharePoint and flow?

The process I require:

1. User uploads word document either through a powerapp or onto SharePoint list.

2. Word document has permissions set on it based on who the approvers are.

3. Approvers read document, either through SP or Powerapp.

4. They respond, using the notification email, with Approve/Reject.

5. Further permissions are set on the word document based on whether Approved or Rejected.

I'm not interested in using SharePoint Designer workflows in conjunction with SharePoint lists/libraries as I believe I have exhausted their potential. I attempted to create an Approval process using the OOTB and also custom Approval process functions using SPD 2013 and setting the permissions was a huge challenge, I managed it but the hoops that the user had to pass through put them straight off it.

Thanks all,

C

Re: Creating an Approval Process for Word Documents with item permissions

Hi @cardinalpipkin,

The process looks simple.

But I am afraid configure permission for the document uploaded is not available through Microsoft Flow, at least currently.

The available action/Triggers under Microsoft Flow for SharePoint file should be:

Get File, create file, get File content, update file, delete file

You could take a look at the article below for the SharePoint related actions/triggers:

Get started with the SharePoint Online Online Connector

You may consider to submit this as an idea in the Microsoft Flow idea forum:
