Does Excel require a table to run?

I am trying to import an Excel file into a SQL Azure database. All is working fine in terms of flow and updating tio SQL.

The problem I have is that in Flow it appears I require a table name to reference. Is there any way I can reference the data without a table name? The issue I have is that the Excel  file is system generated by a 3rd party (of which I have no control) and placed into a folder without a table on a daily basis.

Many thanks.

Re: Does Excel require a table to run?

Hi @Anonymous,

To answer the thread Title, yes, Excel connection under Microsoft Flow needs the table to run.

If you would like to import Excel data into SQL Server table, a table should be pre-defined under Excel WorkSheet.

Currently there is no way to reference the data directly without a table defined.

Please consider submit this as an idea:

Besides, if possible, please consider take use of Macro Recorder to auto-format the Excel file generated.

Re: Does Excel require a table to run?

I am also having the same issue where I have a daily export from a third party software which provides an excel doc but it is not in a table so I am unale to use the excel functions in flow.

I thought I could get the contents of the file and then split these into variables and then use variables to import data but seems that I can only do this with the first and last values in the array and not the x value.
