Efficient way to copy data between sharepoint lists without a loop

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a Flow to conect multiple Sharepoint lists that share some of the columns and that each have their separate columns that is not found in other lists. Is there a way of doing this? Also in a way of not making flow loops (if item is changed it might change another list and go on forever).

Cheers,

Nikola

Hi @nikola_bgd,

How do you want to connect multiple lists? It seems that these lists have some common columns.

Could you share more details on your scenario?

With the trigger When an item is created, the flow will only be triggered when a new item is created and won’t go on forever.

Best regards,

Mabel

Hi,

What I wanted to do is to connect 6 different lists.

List 1 would be the first list in which information will be entered. The list would have a few columns that need to be shared to other lists (A, B) and other columns that would be unique for that list 1 (C, D, E). Info in column A could be a unique value field meaning that this info could have unique ID that is shared in all lists (project code for example).

List 2, 3, 4 would mostly be copied information from List 1, with some of them having unique columns (list 3 - column F) (list 4 columns H). However the unique columns in list 3 and 4 ( F and H) should be copied to List 1.

There would be a document library with column "Status" that should be copied to all other lists and it would be changed often.

Info from all columns should be copied to a master list. This list would serve just to collect data from all other lists. No changes would be needed there.

Cheers

Hi @nikola_bgd,

Thanks for sharing the detailed info.

I am afraid that it might be not possible to copy data between SharePoint lists without a loop.

To copy info from List 1 to List2, 3, 4, you will have to loop through these lists to find out the corresponding item with a unique value, if it already exists, update the existing item, if it doesn’t exist, create a new one.

I assume that the following doc on apply to each loop could be your reference:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/flow/apply-to-each

Best regards,

Mabel
