Error while using Start and Wait for an approval

Hello All

I have a basic flow reading off a form and sending for approval . The form captures the manager's email address and the flow uses that field to send for an approval to that email address entered in the form

I used the template , howeve when i test it ,  i  am getting this error at the Start and Wait for an approval -

The 'inputs.parameters' of workflow operation 'Start_and_wait_for_an_approval' of type 'OpenApiConnectionWebhook' is not valid. Error details: Input parameter 'ApprovalCreationInput/requestor' is required to be of type 'String/email'. The runtime value '"anonymous"' to be converted doesn't have the expected format 'string/email'.

Please help .

Thanks

Shan

Hi @ShanJoseph

Check your runtime history of your flow and see each steps output. Makes sure you are mapping the right email field.

you are awesome.  thank you very much .. worked fine , once the anonymous was fixed . The responder was anonymous in the form - if the user didnot log in  , i mapped to another column whcih captured the email address.

Once again , thank you @abm

Hi

Can you share a screenshot of your Flow in edit mode?

Also, is the Form implemented to the email related question validates the format?

From the info you shared so far, it seems:

-either somebody filled the email request with the string 'anonymous' instead of a formal email address, or

-the mapping between form question outputs and Send an Approval 'To' input is wrong, i.e. you are linking a question output other than the email request

Hope this helps

Hi @ShanJoseph

The screenshot your provided is the run history of your flow. Could you click on each step of the history and make sure it is returning the right outputs.

Thanks

Hi @ShanJoseph

Also I can see send email To is set as anonymous. Believe your mapping is not correct here. Expand the steps of run history (click the mouse on each step) and see the returned values. Compare the field against the mappings. If mapping is correct you have issues with data quality.

Thanks

I am marking your last comment also as 'Solution' since you are providing a very valuable insight (i.e. if users do not login email form field is set to anonymous) for other Power Automate users that could deal in the future with a similar scenario

Thanx for sharing!
