File Locked Condition

Hi,

I am working on a flow that gets rows from an excel sheet and creates or updates events on Outlook Calendar. It's all dependant on the update row function after the event is created, as it brings the event ID back to the Excel. Everything works fine, except on my last test run I forgot to close the excel document and got a 423 error ( Cannot write to filesource. File is being locked. . .) on the Update Rows step. The retry does not recognize the 423 error, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to have a condition based on the file's status? For example, if the file is locked, the flow would pause until the file is available again. Or the condition could be placed at the beginning of the flow so it doesn't even start until the file is available.

Re: File Locked Condition

Hi @GerryL,

Do you want to get the file's status within Microsoft Flow?

Do you want the flow to be paused when the flow is locked?

I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in Microsoft Flow currently, If you would like this feature to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

In addition, you could consider take a try to add a "Configure run after" action to handle the error action within your flow. I have made a test on my side and please take a try with the following workaround:13.JPG

Within "Send an email" action, click "Menu" button, then select "Configure run after" option. Within the "Send an email" should run after panel, select "has failed" option as below:14.JPG

More details about configuring the error handling step, please check the following article:

Best regards,

Kris

Re: File Locked Condition

Hi, Thank you. I don't think this will end up as big of an issue as I initially thought, but this step is helpful anyway.

Re: File Locked Condition

This is something I'm having trouble with.. the Settings option allows for a retry mechanism, but unfortunately doesn't work with the locked condition 😞 I've raised an idea to have this looked at;
