Flow on Sharepoint Task - Update Property Using Looking Field Value

Hi All,

I have sharepoint online and have a list called sites with following properties:

Sites

  • Sites (title)

I also have a task list called projects with the following properties:

Projects

  • Project (title)
  • Site (lookup to Sites)
  • Project Owner (Assigned To - Person)
  • Description (text)

I then have anothert ask list called Actions which links actions required for a project with the following properties:

Actions

  • Action (title)
  • Project (lookup Projects->project)
  • Site (lookup Project->site)
  • Start Date
  • End Date

All the lookup fields are singlular values ie allow multiples = FALSE

Issue in Action Lookup

The issue I have is when applying lookups in Actions, although I can lookup the property Project: Projects->project The lookup field for property site ie Site: Project->site  is not available. I understand this is because I am looking on a field which is also a lookup field in Projects.

I understand this can be solved in Microsoft Flow. In flow I am able to set the sharepoint site, and trigger to listen to when action is created/updated. However after that I have no idea what to do to achieve the above.

I really appreciate some guidance on how I can do the above whether instructions or even a similar tutorial. I am new to Flow any help is good help. For further guidance below is the example data of what I am trying achieve. Many thanks.

Regards,
Kdog

Re: Flow on Sharepoint Task - Update Property Using Looking Field Value

Hi @Kdog ,

It seems that you want to use Project field in Actions list to get the Sites (Title) in the corresponding Sites list.

As far as I know, the lookup column cannot refer to the lookup column in other lists, so the Site field in Actions list does not seem to be set to the lookup field.

If it is consistent with what I have described, you could set the Site field in Actions list to Single line of text and then configure Flow by referring to the following method.

Get the value in the corresponding list by the associated lookup column id.

Hope it helps.

May thanks for the solution. I didn't understand how Get Item works but your example does make sense.
