Flow send an email action to show display name from people picker column

I have a flow that reads a SharePoint list ("Get Items") based on a filter condition and then sends an email listing all items returned.  The sequence is:

  • Get Items - filter and sort order applied
  • Create HTML Table (headers on, custom columns)
  • Send an email - the HTML table is inserted into the body of the email

This nicely displays in the email all the items returned (Title, Start Date, Due Date, Status) in a list except for one of the columns which is the standard Assigned To people picker column.  In the email this displays as:

[{"@odata.type":"#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser","Claims":"i:0#.f|membership|chris.kaye@mysp365.com","DisplayName":"Christopher Kaye","Email":"chris.kaye@mysp365.com","Picture":"https://myspoffice.sharepoint.com/sites/myspportal/myspcorporate/_layouts/15/UserPhoto.aspx?Size=L&A...","Department":null,"JobTitle":"The Solutionist"}]

whereas, all I want to show is the Display Name.

Can anyone help?

Chris

Hi @ChrisKaye,

In the action Create HTML table, what value have you specified for the people picker column?

I have a people and group column Test1 in the list, in action Create HTML table, select Test1 DisplayName will only show the display name of the people.

Please try again with it.

Hi @v-yamao-msft

I did not have the Display Name option.  On further investigation I realised that the People Picker had "Allow multiple selections" set to Yes.  I changed this to No and can now see Display Name in the dynamic content.

Many thanks for your reply.  Not urgent, but if Multiple Selection is a requirement, any idea how you implement this?

Chris

Hi, following up on the last comment regarding allowing multiple display names to appear.  If the People Picker column allowed for multiple users to be selected (e.g., Jane Doe, John Smith, Christopher Columbus), I would like to display each [display] name in the email body.  Any insight on the best approach would be very helpful, thanks.
