Forms multiple file upload to approvals email - but corrupted

Morning,

I am attempting to make a flow that accepts input from a form, with two separate files attached.  On the first half of the flow, the content will go to approvals and be approved or rejected.  So far, I have been able to follow this guide - https://elliskarim.com/2022/06/06/how-to-send-microsoft-forms-file-uploads-from-multiple-questions-t...

and generate an approval with the content attached.

But when attempting to open the content I get an alert that the file is corrupted.  I have attempted to follow the additional instructions in the guide to fix this with no success, listed at the bottom of the guide.

Please see the attached pics of the current flow with corrupted files and let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix it.

The second half of the flow with rename the file and upload it to a sharepoint list - but that has not ben built yet.

Thanks,

the above sends the approval, with the content attached, but doesn't open and is corrupted.

When attempting to do the adjustments as recommended in the guide this is the error I get -

for "name", use the "Name" property of the file, not the Display name (which does not have the file extension). Also, check a run of the flow to be sure that the "get file content" action is providing the expected output (and that that output is what you're putting into the "content" value in the variable).

image.pngWhen you are appending the content to the array the field label should be ContentBytes, not Content.

Thank you - the flow ran but the content did not come through in the email for approval.  There are no attachments on the email.  Not totally sure what happened here.

Hi,

Are you creating json of the the field where you ask for attachments. If not that's the problem in your flow.

Can you show me the Start and wait for an Approval configuration and how you are adding the array you build to the Approval.

And are you viewing the Approval in an email client? or in the Teams approval app? There's been a long standing issue with attachments in the Teams approval app when creating the approvals outside of Teams.

Hi,

I am attempting to complete the approval via an email client outlook.  As I said, before changing from "Content" to "ContentByte" the attachments came with the approval request but couldn't be opened as there were corrupted.  With the change you recommended, the approval request comes through as picture above but now no files are attached.  Thanks again for your help.

Actually, for attaching to an Approval, it needs to be "Content". For attaching to an email, "ContentBytes" is correct. I really wish the teams in Microsoft would coordinate and standardize these sorts of things.

But this doesn't address the corrupt issue - how do I fix that?

Looking back on previous work you are correct. I agree that I wish they would coordinate. I did some indepth testing and the only way I can get it to work now is if I strip out the $contenttype value in the File Contents. In the past that has been the primary issue I've seen in corrupted files, after leaving off the extension.  But in the testing I do today it fails if I pull the content from SharePoint and leave the $contenttype value in Content.  The only way I could get it to succeed with an array was to strip out the $contenttype and only pass the $content.

One issue I see with the approved answer for this post is that it is using OneDrive while the original question was using SharePoint.  Behind the scenes they are the same technology, but the connectors are a bit different in how they handle files.
