Get Calendar View Of Events (V3) Order By Start Time

Hi all,

I am creating a flow to send me a summary of my outlook calendar on a weekly basis. It is all working fine, but I would really like to be able to sort the data so that it is chronological order within the HTML table.

My flow is as below:

Gwill1983_0-1643374139296.png

This then produces an email that looks like the below:

Gwill1983_1-1643374255954.png

I cannot get the 'order by' function to work in order to sort this table into a list that shows the earliest meeting at the top working down to the last meeting at the bottom

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Hi @Gwill1983,

Try to add Start/DateTime asc in your Sort by field.

Below is an example:

Start/DateTime asc

Thanks so much. It works perfectly!

Hello! Would it be possible for you to share your Table Style function please? I'm a complete beginner and would like to have a nice table like yours. Thank you!

Probably a good idea to tag you on an almost 2yo post 😛
@Gwill1983

Hi. No problem at all.

<style>
Table {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
background-color: #EEEEEE;
border-collapse: collapse;
width: 120%;
}

Table td, Table th {
border: 1px solid #ddd;
padding: 3px 3px;
}

Table th {
font-size: 15px;
font-weight: bold;
padding-top: 12px;
padding-bottom: 12px;
text-align: left;
background-color: #1C6EA4;
color: white;
}
</style>

I am using this in a compose action and then using the output of this in the body of the email.

Thank you very much!

Thank you, precisely what I was looking for but couldn't find it with my initial search

Thankyou so much!! IT WORKS!

Where did you added the html text. I tried using it as value in set variable action but it throws error.

You need to add a "compose" action and paste the html there.

Then in the body of the email action you use the output from the compose action as dynamic expression input.

Can you share your settings of each action so that I can refer to it.

Hi @revv

I am not quite sure what you mean but I try to clarify anyway:

Amandys_0-1704703236954.png

Create a new action "compose" and use the style formatting code as input (note that as I have German language settings, my "compose" is "Verfassen", the third action in the picture.

Now in the body of the email you use the dynamic expressions, first the output of the previously created compose action and after that the output of your data provider. In my case that is a "select" action ("Auswählen") choosing lines from a SharePoint output followed by a "create HTML table" action using the output of the previous action as input.

Hope that helps and wish you a pleasant start into the new year (with a beautiful, elegant and working flow maybe 🙂 )

Thanks @Amandys .Can you share the configurations of other actions too. I mean the inputs/attributes you have set for all the actions in the flow.

I'm afraid you have to ask @Gwill1983 for that, as I don't have a flow reproducing the original problem.

I just recreated some aspects within my existing flows in order to provide you some screenshots.

Generally speaking, the input of an action is the output of the previous action in most cases.

So if you take this scenario from Gewill

Amandys_0-1704722284448.png

then "Create HTML table" has the output from "Select" as input, "Table style" is a compose action with the HTML code as input and "Send an email (V2)" has both the output from "Create HTML table" and from "Table style" as dynamic expression within the body property.

At this point it might be easier if you share your flow and I try to point out issues if any.

@Gwill1983

Hello! I'm trying to build a reoccurring email with event reminders similar to this that you have built. Are you able to send me all of the details you used for each action? I'm stuck with the "Select Variable" action, and it won't let me add anything. Thank you!

Hi, I'm sure this was brilliant but Microsoft have apparently removed the Order By field.  Any suggestions as to what I do now please?  I tried AI questions, but the only option it came up with was adding a Filter Array action, but this just doesn't work :-}

Hi @anakeimai,

That Order By field should still be available, I just checked both versions of the designer. Where did you read that it was removed?

In the new designer

In the classic designer under advanced options

Apologies you're quite right I wasn't looking in the right place!  Just struggling to get the syntax now to make it sort correctly.  I tried typing Start/DateTime asc but it won't accept this as an expression.  Can you advise please (and thanks again!)

Hi @anakeimai,

It is added as plain text, not as an expression. Type it directly in the field and not via the expression editor.
