Get the first person email from People Picker that is set to allow multiple people.

I am attempting to get the first person in a Sharepoint list people picker field's email.  I get all the emails because of the apply to each function.  I know I could put them in an array and then get the first one from the array but that seems inefficient.  Is there a better way?

See what I have below.  Ultimately I will then take that email and compare it to another SharePoint list to get that person's Department Head.  And no I can't use User Profile because the Department Head is different than the Manager in AD. Thank you for your help this community has helped me a lot!

I have made atest on my side, please refer to screenshot below to create the flow:

The expression in the Compose as below:

triggerBody()?['CardHolder'][0]?['Email']

When an item is created in the sharepoint list below:
