HTML EMAILS: Centralized Templating?

Hello,

Is there a way to reference a single HTML file somewhere instead of copying/pasting giant HTML text between Flows?

Example

- Flow in Production Environment

- Has an HTML email that is ~300 lines long

- Dynamic content embedded throughout

- Similar Flow in Development Environment

- Dynamic content (slightly different Actions and/or Sequences) embedded throughout

- Has the same HTML email that is ~300 lines long

Instead of having to copy and paste ~300 lines of HTML between the Environments and rewrite the dynamic content, I want some way to host the HTML email somewhere smart and reference it.

I'm finding it quite challenging to be consistent and to reuse content efficiently.

Does anyone else have a better model for this?

Thanks!

Hi @ericonline ,

You can build a compose message and pass the output to send email body.

Please have a look at below blog.

So in your case you probably need to store this json file in a One drive or flow supported database.

Hi @ericonline ,

I am afraid I didn't understand what you mean. Do you want to reuse html emails or Html file?

Please provide more details about your needs.

It seems that you could try to store html file/HTML Emails that needs multiple references in a common place, such as SharePoint Library or OneDrive.

When you need to reference this file in different environments, you could directly reference the file content through the file path.

Hi @abm ,

I think what I want isn't possible. Basically looking from some way to keep my HTML Email Templates in a central location and reference them in different Flows.

Something akin to an "includes reference" or "transclusion". Not sure its possible.

Thanks for the followup. That John Liu blog was neat.

Hi @ericonline ,

Why not create your email templates and upload in a SharePoint list for example and attach a meta data to identify whether its dev or live. Use the SharePoint flow step to get the relevant template before send the email and map it to your email body.
