Help with Dynamic values in connectors

Good afternoon,

I've been trying to use ms flow to dynamically update documents in Google Spreadsheets.

While I'm directly typing my file ID and my Sheet ID, it works (figure 1), but when I try it by using anything dynamic, such as the Compose connector, it doesn't (figure 2). Why is that? Would it be possible if I design my own connector, using the Google API and use these values as parameters? Looks like Ms Flow doesn't even try to check if the contents from Compose are valid.

Thank you for your time!

Re: Help with Dynamic values in connectors

Hi @jcobiak ,

I have some updates for you.

Dynamic contents in Insert row action is not supposed to work because of the reason as displayed in the error message. The token is using the compose outputs are expressions which evaluate only at runtime – so during design time i.e. when the flow is being created, the values of outputs are not available.

The user must either select from the dropdown or type in the correct value in those fields for dynamic values to work during design time.

Best regards,

Mabel

Re: Help with Dynamic values in connectors

@jcobiak

Hi there!  My understanding is that for this (and the Excel version), the file must be selected using the folder select icon rather than typing in a file path.

I tested out a version where I got the list of Google Sheets first and then used the File ID in insert row action, but since the worksheet is dependent on the filename, I know it will yell at me if I don't select a file.

Hope that helps.

@edgonzales ,
Thank you for your response.

It's possible to select the file directly typing in a file path, the problem shows up when I try to use dynamic content.

Yeah, I've tried something along these lines, but it didn't work. I am able to use dynamic content while getting the lists in Google Sheets, but still, I'm not able to pass these values to the "Add row" command. You can see (figure 4) that it does get the sheet name, as output, but I can't apply it (Figure 3).

Re: Help with Dynamic values in connectors

Hi @jcobiak ,

Thanks for feedback.

The issue could be reproduced by me. It seems that dynamic sheet id and dynamic file if cannot be used in action Insert row.

I will help report this issue from my side and back to you later.

Best regards,

Mabel
