How Can I Create Folders And Sub Folders In SharePoint Library Using Power Automate

I would like to know how I can use power automate to create folders and subfolders in the SharePoint library.

below is my document library in SharePoint

I want to add subfolders to each folder in the document library automatically.

 Could I please know what is the best way to do this using power automate?

Hi, I am new to Power Automate, and I am getting an error when trying to test the flow you have posted. Can you please assist? Error as follows

  "The file or folder name contains characters that are not permitted.  Please use a different name.

When creating the 'Create New Folder' action, i don't seem to be able to find or select 'Fx Concat' as shown in your screenshots.

I have tried to enter the string manually as shown

Please assist as I would really like to get this working

Hi @hexc25,

It looks like you have added the expression as plain text to the Folder Path field. Can you add it via the expression tab?

I can find the Expression tab, and I don't seem to have the option for 'Add dynamic content'

Am I missing something?

Hi @hexc25,

When you click within the field the dialog with both the Dynamic content and Expression tabs should appear. 

Don't know if it helps, but I have recorded a gif which should demonstrate this.

Could I also ask if there is a way to also break permissions on these subfolders?
I have tried using the action 'Stop sharing a item or file' using the same expression, but i get the following error

Hi @hexc25,

Yes, that should be possible. You can probably use one or a couple of Send an HTTP request actions with the breakRoleInheritance & addroleassignment methods for this. 

Can you create a separate thread for this with a bit more information (who do you want to add (users/groups)?, what kind of permission levels do you want to assign to these principals?, etc.)

This way we can help you out with this new question.

I never use Power Automate but would like to learn it bit by bit

I would like to create one subfolder with the same name for some chosen existing folder.

For example, I have 3 existing folders with some sub folders on it

Test1/sub1, sub2, sub3

Test2/sub1, sub2, sub3, abc

Test 3/sub1, sub2, sub3, bdf

I would like to create subfolder name sub4 for folder Test2 and Test 3 only

I am trying to create multiple subfolders under one folder, and attached is my formula. However, my flow keeps running continuously, and no folders have been created. Do I need to remove the brackets?

I think I figured it out. I see the subfolders creating within Final, but it seems to be taking much longer. Thanks. 🙂

Thanks for sharing. It was helpful. But I ran to an issue. When the folder created by the flow is deleted. The folders get recreated back. Do you have an idea how to stop this?
