How can I receive data from Power Apps and send as multiple attachments on an email (as JPEGs and JSON)?

What I want to happen is when you press submit in the Power App this data goes to Power Automate where pictures are attached to an email, and the data (from the text fields, dropdowns etc.) is attached as a .json file. The purpose is that this gets emailed to a mailbox that runs a script to automatically put it into the system, this system looks for attached JPEGs and JSON files. The JSON will be formatted in Power Apps before being sent to Power Automate.

This is the Flow I have now which throws an error when it gets to send an email "Unable to read message or attachment content."

Does anyone know how this can be done?

Hi @v-alzhan-msft ,

No, although I never did get it working the way I wanted, I just set it up how I originally got it working and left it like that.

How I have it working is I just use the Office365.SendEmail connection in Power Apps, attach pictures to this and put the JSON in the body of the email. This works fine for our app.

But ideally, we would have liked the JSON as a file attached to the email. However, this wasn't completely necessary so I didn't want to spend any more time on it without knowing if it's even possible, or if it is, how much effort is involved.

Hi @DerekHurley

I am hoping you are passing files content from Power Apps to Power automate correctly.

Actually Power Automate email attachment accept JSON format so you should build a well formatted JSON for attchments , i had a sample PA  that may help you:

Hi @DeepakS ,

Thanks for the quick response.

Just to clarify I am not sending attachments from Power Apps. When running a Flow from Power Apps you can only pass a string. So for data such as pictures, this means you have to use the JSON() function (and include binary data) and send as a JSON string to Power Automate.

This does make my situation a little confusing because to send the data from Power Apps to Power Automate you need to format everything as JSON (data from text fields, dropdown, etc as the submission, and any pictures) and then parse this JSON in Power Automate, with the desired result being any pictures are attached to an email and any data is attached as a .json file to the same email.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @DerekHurley

Sending file from Power Apps to Power Automate is not that straightforward. I have a question though why you are not saving image and other details to a SharePoint list/library and trigger a Power Automate on item create on this library? this will be a simpler approach.

Hi @DeepakS ,

I had considered doing it from SharePoint, the main reason I was trying to do it with a Flow from Power Apps was that I had all the submission data in one place. Once I save to SP I have the data in a records list and any pictures (there may be multiple) in a SP document library.

If I were to have a trigger on SharePoint: in the records list the data from Power Apps is just saved as a row (not as a JSON file attached) can I take this entry into Power Automate and somehow send this as a .json file attached to an email? Also, I would like to attach any related pictures from the SP document library to the same email, but mainly I just want to see if I can get JSON working first.

Thanks
