I Don't Understand Conditions!

Hi All - I am building an approval flow with several layers of approval depending on funding type and location. The approval e-mails need to come shared mailbox. None of the approvals have this option.  So, I used Create a Approval and turned off notifications, my next action is to send an email from a shared mailbox with all the travel details and include the respond link.

How do I set the condition if the response is Approve to move on to the next level of approval? Or if the response is Reject to let the requestor know?  When I chose condition there is not an option for response or outcome to select.

Thanks - Suzanne

Re: I Don't Understand Conditions!

Basically by bypassing the notifications you are choosing not to send an email containing the Approval. But you are then sending your own custom email with a link.  I'm assuming the link is to the Approve or reject entry in the Flow Approvals tab.  Assuming that it is you can then just use the Wait for Approval action.  When the approvers use the link and Approve or reject the approval it will automatically return an Outcome.  You can use that Outcome in a condition to check whether the outcome was "Approve" or "Reject"

@SuzanneC

As @Pstork1 , you just need to check the outcome - see my screen shot below.  If you don't see outcome, please post a screen shot of your Flow.

Re: I Don't Understand Conditions!

@ScottShearer, thanks.  I am not using the Start and Wait for approvals because I need the approval request to come from a shared mailbox, not me.

Re: I Don't Understand Conditions!

@Pstork1

Question - what dynamic content goes in the wait for an approval?  Is it just the approve id or can I leave it empty?

Thanks - Suzanne

Re: I Don't Understand Conditions!

Just the Approval ID from the original Create an Approval.  Everything else was set when you created it.

Re: I Don't Understand Conditions!

@Pstork1  Thank you,  what if I have more than one wait for an approval is it still the Approver ID or is it the Approver ID for that wait for approval?

It's not easy trying to learn this on my own I appreciate all your help.

Re: I Don't Understand Conditions!

Create an Approval and Wait for an Approval have to be built as matched pairs.  So if you have more than one Wait for an Approval you have to have an equal number of Create an Approval Actions.  The Approval ID is how you hook them together.
