Identify if incoming PDF document is scanned or searchable

Is there a way in Power Automate to identify the incoming file to SharePoint document library or mailbox is scanned PDF or searchable PDF? Looking for solutions using standard connectors, if not possible then premium connectors. @Jay-Encodian

Thanks,

Ramesh

Hey @RameshMukka

You cannot do this with standard capabilities.

You need to check for the presence of a text layer within the PDF document, which you can do with the Encodian 'Get PDF Document Information' action - https://support.encodian.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360002949358-Get-PDF-Document-Information

The action returns the property 'Has Text Layer' which indicates whether the PDF document has a text layer or not.

FYI - The Encodian connector is not a premium connector, it is a standard connector.

@Jay-Encodian Thank you for this. I am on it. By saying Standard Connector, do you mean its free? But I see different pricing on the Encodian Website.

@Jay-Encodian I got a trial version of it and created a simple flow "When a file is created" using OneDrive for Business connector. I then uploaded a pdf file which has some text in it, not a scanned one nor an image. I can select the text and search for the text. However the dynamic property "Has Text Layer" returned me false. Am I doing something wrong?

@RameshMukka

Sorry for the delay, for Encodian support it is best to contact the support team direct - support@encodian.com ... I only participate on the forums when the normal working days allows the time.

Standard and Premium connectors to not determine third party costs. Standard connectors are a group of connectors which are available if you have access to P/A... to access Premium connectors you need additional Microsoft P/A licenses (above those provided by a Microsoft 365 E* license). You may then also need licenses from the connector supplier (such as Encodian) regardless of whether it is a standard / premium connector.

Encodian to provide a 'Free' plan, and paid plans for higher throughput.

Ref your issue; can you please supply either the test file to support@encodian.com so we can review.

If this was broken we'd have thousands of very unhappy customers 🙂
