Interesting time issue - fixed then changes, different data center?

I'm struggling with a time issue.

Bottom line--> the time stamps are changing every few days.  I fixed it using addhours(utcnow(),-4) to get to EST.  It worked for about 3 days then started to show a 4 hour delta.

Re: Interesting time issue - fixed then changes, different data center?

@ChristianAbata The flow you see counts items in another list, then posts it to the SharePoint homepage with a timestamp.  The time posted was immediately after I ran the flow which should have said "a few minutes ago" vs. the 4 hour difference.

I guess what's confusing is it worked for several days... then all of the sudden showed a 4hr difference.  I have the SharePoint set to EST, how do I set Flow to EST?

Re: Interesting time issue - fixed then changes, different data center?

@ChristianAbata I've seen this before--I think what confuses me is:

1. base time - where does this come from?

2. source time zone - how do i know where the source is?

Hi @wiredupjax ,

Please try to use convert time zone action to convert utcNow().

And you need to set the Destination time zone the same as time zone of SharePoint List.

Please take a try and check if it helps.

This solution threw my time off by 11hrs. I'm in EST.

Basetime = utcnow()

Source=UTC Coordinated Universal Time

Destination=EST

Hi @wiredupjax ,

Maybe we should check if the base time is the expected time that you want to get first.

Then we could use convert time zone action to convert this time to the time zone that you have chosen in SharePoint.

Got it... so, here is the screenshot.  How do I know what utcnow() timezone has been returned?  Do I just do the math from me to it?

Re: Interesting time issue - fixed then changes, different data center?

Hi @wiredupjax ,

By default in Flow, the time zone of utcNow is Coordinated Universal Time.

And the base time has displayed in the body of Convert time zone action. Check if it is the expected time you want.

For some reason, the conversion time isn't showing up in the target field

Re: Interesting time issue - fixed then changes, different data center?

Hi @wiredupjax ,

Please check if the Converted time in Input and output of the Create item action is the same.

If they are different, it seems that SharePoint has converted the time zone to the same as SharePoint setting when creating item.

Sharepoint's timezone is set EST.  Should I set this to UTC?

Hi @wiredupjax ,

You don’t need to change the time zone of the SharePoint site.

When you configuring Convert time zone action in Flow,  you could set the Destination time zone the same as SharePoint Site.
