Issue with Outlook trigger When event is added, updated or deleted (v3)

I was using the trigger "When an event is added, updated or deleted (V3) and now for some unknown reason the output of this trigger is always ActionType: "deleted".

I have looked for a solution for days and no luck.  Any ideas on what may be happening and how to resolve?  I have tried connecting to different calendars and no luck.   If I use the event added trigger only it works just fine and recognized an event was added also when I use the event modified trigger it works fine as well.  But when I use this add, updated, deleted it just thinks all event adds, updates, are actually deletes.

Ok, I did some other testing and after a mistake I believe I figured out what happens.  I had been testing a live calendar so I had been adding and deleting test events back 8 months or so, That way no one saw the changes but me.  I forgot to go back a few months for a second test and added an event on todays day and bam the trigger worked perfectly and knew it was an add vs a delete.  I then went back 8 month and added an event and the trigger once again said the item was a delete and not an add.  I had sen the advanced options and noticed the Past Days Tracked and I figured I had nothing to lose and I set it to track 365 days back in the calendar.  Upon testing I added an event 8 months prior and it worked just as expected.  It realized the event was an add vs a delete.

At this point the only thing I can assume is that if it is past the "Past Days Tracked" in the calendar it just defaults to the delete action.  That is the only thing I can think of.

This is the first time I have used a forum for help  I apologize if I am doing this wrong I was getting ready to contact support.  Should I be flagging somone as a solution.  I don't think I flag myself as the solution.  Any guidance appreciated and I appreaciate the help

Hi @glenn-scott

Thank you for posting.

According to your description, you are having problem while using  ‘When event is added, updated or deleted (v3)’ action. If any misunderstanding, please kindly let me know.

I tested as you described. I created a new event and edited its title and then deleted it at last. After that, I’m able to get three flow running history.

Here are the result log for your reference:

For event creation:

For event editing:

For event deletion:

The action works fine as expected. The log shows correct action accurately from my end.

Since I couldn’t reproduce your issue from my end, I believe it’s not a global incident. Please feel free to re-create flow and test again.

If the issue still persists, I recommend you go to below website to request a remote troubleshooting support fo further investigation.

Hope the content above may help you.

Here is the output when I added a event to the calendar my flow is tied to.

I have recreated the flow several times and get the same results.  I will have to check another user on my tenant to see if it is tenant based then contact support you suggested.

Thanks very much for this solution! I never would have found the solution on my own, but it solves the same weirdness I'm seeing in my flow, even though I'm not adding older items, my flow stopped working around the 1st of January of this year. Changed the Past Days Tracked and it seems to have started working correctly now. Thanks again!

What's the "solution" here? Change the "past days tracked" to 365?

If you are trying to use power automate to pull calendar items in the past.  Then yes.  If you enter 365 then it will track calendar items back 1 year.    In my case I had an outlook calendar with 2 years worth of old data and some current data I waned in a sharepoint list for calendar.  The only way it would pull the old dates when I updated the calendar was to change the tracked days further back than the oldest date I wanted it to move over.

In the OP, you noted "the trigger "When an event is added, updated or deleted (V3) ... output is always ActionType: "deleted"."

I and others are seeing the same problem for new events, ref. https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/When-an-event-is-added-updated-or-deleted...

I suspect you have (had) two separate issues: the "all events are ActionType deleted", and your historical / "past days tracked" issue. You "fixed" the former by changing the latter, but if my and other's experiences are anything to go by, the former will recur.

If the "all events are ActionType deleted" does recur for you, the workaround is to copy the flow, disable the old one, and enable the new copy. Rinse, wash, repeat.
