Hi,
Maybe I'm missing something but I would like to add a link to a local file to a task in MS Planner.
Something like file:///C:\Users\%userprofile%\Sharepoint Organisation\Team - Documents\Testfolder\voicemail.wav
But I can't make it work, is it even possible?
Currently I have the following flow for saving an incoming voicemail and adding a task to the team to listen to it:
1. When email arrives with attachment
2. Save attachment to sharepoint
3. Add task in MS Planner
4. Add link to attachment to task
Now in step 4 I am trying to add the attachment (.wav file) to the task. Since it's impossible to just add the attachment from the email directly to the attachments of a task in MS Planner, I save it in Sharepoint and then add the URL of the Sharepoint file as an attachment. So technically it's a link, not an attachment.
Now I would like my users to open it on their local computer instead of on the Sharepoint site. Would that be possible?
Thanks!
Hi @BoAutomate ,
I think this is not possible. Only file links can be added to the task, and the files need to be stored in the same group site so that they can be accessed directly on the webpage.
But if the user has the permission to download the file, you may consider letting the user download the file and view it on the local computer.
Best Regards,
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately. Letting them download the file when it's already available on their computer via OneDrive (SharePoint) seems inefficient. I'll consider a feature request.
