Microsoft Flow dynamic approval using O365 Forms

Hi,

I need to capture some information and then generate an approval flow with goes to the staff member who is stated as the 'approver' in the form that is filled out.

I am using O365 Forms to capture the information and then write to a Sharepoint list from which I generate the Approval Flow.

The issue I am having is that I cannot seem to save "name or group" format information from an O365 Form into a Sharepoint list (I can only save as a string). This means that when I come to generate the Approval Flow for this, it will not allow me to add the dynamic email address for the stated approver into the Flow setup , it has only linmited dynamic content for the approval email which does not include the approvers email that I captured in the form and wrote to the Sharepoint list as a String.

Does anyone know the best way to get around this limitation so that I can capture the approvers email address in the O365 Form and then craete an approval flow to use that address?

Thank you.

Re: Microsoft Flow dynamic approval using O365 Forms

Hi @snipesnab,

Are you using Microsoft Forms? If possible, please share a screenshot of your flow configuration.

What do you mean by “name or group format information”? It seems that there is no type of people and group in Microsoft Forms, only type of Text.

I have made a test on my side. I have a field of type Text called name in my forms. When a form is submitted, capture the name from the form then save it to SharePoint list, of course, there is a column of type people or group in the list. The name can be saved to the people or group column properly. Finally, get the saved email address and send an approval email.

The flow is created likes below:
