Move Data in Text Field to Lookup Field on a Dynamics 365 Record

Hello,

How do I move the data in a text field (Acct Name) to a lookup field (Company Name) on a contact record?  I've been able to get the flow to list the correct record but I can't the get the value from the text field to the lookup field without an error.

The condition is Acct Name is not null and the Originating Lead is not null.

In the update step Company Name has been set to Acct Name and I set Company Name Type to Contacts.

INPUTS shows this so maybe I'm heading in the right direction:

{

"_parentcustomerid_value": "[correct company name appears]",

"_parentcustomerid_type": "contacts",

"_ownerid_type": ""

}

OUTPUTS gives shows an error:

Status Code: 400 Bad Request

What should I do?

Thanks,

Beth

Hello,

Can you share a screenshot of your flow please.

The lookup field is expecting a guid, you won’t be able to pass it any plain text.

You can write the text value to the entity itself for example. You will need to write the text company name to the Contact entity

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the quick response.

The Acct Name field is the company name written to a text field on the contact record.

Here's my flow.

Missed a piece of the flow. This is the filter:

@Anonymous

Sorry i had it backwards, you need to write the text value to the Account entity (since this is the lookup that is coming from)

I'll keep playing around with this and see how far I can get.

Thanks again for responding, Josh!
