Notification Flow to Notify Who Attempted to Create a Record

Hi, I have created a Notification in my Flow to trigger on record create or edit.

All works fine.

I receive the email with the information but I can only get the notification to send me the UserID or Owner of who was attempting to create or edit which both result in the ID.  I've tried different fields and different formulas only to get the ID every time and I want the actual name of the user.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Thanks.

hi @TechGurl  to receive notification alerts you need to install power automate in your phone as an app.

I receive the notifications fine.

It's the parameters within the notification where I don't want to see the UserID (long string of alpha/numeric) I want the actual Name of the system user to be sent to me.

@TechGurl

If you are referring to a SharePoint list, you'll want to use the Modified By Display name.

Wasn't using a SharePoint List but maybe I should to do a lookup of UserID to Username?

I'm running this Flow in my Dynamics CRM Sales Professional online environment.

Goal was to keep employees from Tracking other employees in the CRM which could turn into a compliance/hr issue if certain private conversations inadvertently were recording as Activities.

Basically setup business rules on all the forms with in the CRM to keep record creation with ourcompany@domainname.com

And then created a Flow so records being created from Dynamics Outlook App marked at Tracked, when they sync into the CRM are then deleted based on the email address trigger.

Then the flow sends me an email notification and includes who tried to create the record (UserID) what employee they were trying to create (First Name, Last Name).  All works great except UserID does me no good.  I would like the actual system user name so I can reach out them and have them Stop trying to Track employees.

Hopefully that helps describes what I'm attempting to do.  Thanks, TechGurl

Hi @TechGurl

Could you please take a try to use the Get user profile action to get the user display name with the user Id?

Finally had a chance to try this out.

I think this solution will work, but I get the Lock and 404 error that it cannot read my Directory to pull user info.

Assumption is because I'm using the free version, and you need the paid version in order to do this function?

Maybe?

Hi @TechGurl ,

What is the error message?

When the Flow gets to the Condition is where it fails, No dependent actions succeeded.

On the Get user profile (v2) which couple steps into the Condition Bad Request Status Code 400.

Parsing data, expand and select failed under my user account.  Which has full/global/admin across the board.

We've tried multiple ways and it consistently fails at this step.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @TechGurl ,

The error message No dependent actions succeeded means your Condition has run into the if no branch, that don't mean the flow run failed.

You should check from the run history to see why it has run into the if no branch.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

We continued to play around with the variables until it finally succeeded.

I'm still getting SYSTEM as the User who is doing the offending unless it is me and it show my UserID.

Worse case I can look it up in the Auditing where I get the full details.

Problem solved for now!
