Office 365 Users - Search for Users

Hi all,

Objective: I want to build a flow that emails 365 users when a new document has been added to a specific OneDrive folder. The intended outcome is that a group of 365 users will be emailed that they are behind on their individual learning plans (ILPs) by having my Flow identify 365 user emails from a newly-added document and then email those users whose emails are in the document. I am using the following Flow structure:

Flow.jpg

Problem: Users are not getting any emails. The Flow runs successfully, but the 365 users in the documents do not receive an email. We have checked all email folders each time and found the email does not send. We have also verified the users I am attempting to email are in my 365 organization.

Note: If I attempt this Flow with one email by itself, the Flow is successful and also sends an email successfully, but I want to be able to do this with multiple users in the same document.

Context: The emails are redacted, of course. The red squares are meant to indicate where I am placing commas.

Please help, and thank you in advance for your time.

- Max

Hi @v-xida-msft,

I was able to find the solution on my own through trial and error. Thank you for taking the time to try to help me out! In the event someone asks a similar question (i.e. wanting to search for multiple O365 users in a document using a single flow), you may let them know that their solution is to add the steps to Search 365 Users within a scope. Hi @maxgraham,

Could you please share a bit more about your new added document? Which file type is it?

Are there Office 365 user email addresses included in your new added document? Could you please share an sample about it?

Further, do you want to extract the email addresses from the file content of the new added document?

If you want to extract email address from the file content of the new added document, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in Microsoft Flow currently. The File content dynamic content the "When a file is created" trigger returned is a binary data, there is no way to analyze binary data in Microsoft Flow currently.

If you would like this feature to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

Best regards,

Kris

Hi @v-xida-msft,

Thanks for your fast reply! See below for answers to your questions.

"Could you please share a bit more about your new added document? Which file type is it?"

My new added document is an Excel file.

"Are there Office 365 user email addresses included in your new added document? Could you please share an sample about it?"

Yes, there are Office 365 user email addresses included in my new added document. Here is a sample document. For security reasons, I made up the email addresses in the sample document.

"Further, do you want to extract the email addresses from the file content of the new added document?"

No, I do not want to extract the email addresses from the file content of the new added document.

Hi @v-xida-msft,

I wanted to check in to see if you knew of a solution, or if you were able to replicate this problem. I am almost certain it is user error on my part, but I would really like to be sure. Please let me know if there is any other information you can give me regarding this problem. I look forward to hearing from you!
