Playing around with trying to see if we can't use a flow to both email the distro group and post to Slack who is on call or coming up on call.
Using Sharepoint in our Office365 and created an On Call Calendar. I believe that is basically a "Sharepoint List".
Each day has a single entry for who is on call.
I see and have used ways to build flows with sharepoint lists and calendars before but that was for stuff like any time a new entry was created or updated.
This however is a pre-populated calendar for the rest of the year. No adds or changes typically. I need to be able to schedule an email to send with who is currently oncall. Not seeing a good way to do this.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Is the calendar list a Default SharePoint Calendar list?
Do you want to run the flow to send email to someone about who is on call today?
Please correct if I misunderstand you. I am trying to figure out a workaround for your scenario.
I'm not sure I understand your problem exactly, but have you seen that you can trigger a flow by a schedule.
In your case daily?
Search "Schedule" in triggers
I hope that is helpful to you.
I am pretty sure its a default sharepoint (office365) calendar list.
I thought I had something built that would work but it doesn't as it only seems to grab the first item in the list which seems to be a list of every item and not just items in the day scheduled to run.
I created all day events to span the week for who is on call.
June 5th - 11th - Joe
June 12th - 18th - Bob
June 19th - 25th - Sue
I scheduled a recurrance to pull the first value from the list every monday morning to notify via email.
However it always just pulls Joe in this case. Regardless of the day of the week.it is run.
I want a way to (any way at this point) to send an email with the entry on the day not the list as a whole.
Is that possible?
Any further thoughts given to this would be appreciated. Ability to do more notifications, flows based on Sharepoint list calendars would be greatly appreciated.
