Parallel flows and approval process

hi,

i have been working on some flows lately and seemd to be geting there, but decided to change a cpl of things thiking it would make things a bit easier and cover the scope i was given.

When a user submits a new idea request (they fill out the online form with the relevant detail and submit)

Runs through the parallel conditions for each of the  Selections (innovation-workplace, innovation-technology etc….)

It then updates that list item with the user assigned to the selections (populates with manually typed email address) (this is a person field)

Then continues the workflow to the approval stage

Each approval stage has the following :

Approval process is assigned to Selection owner ( Quality – whoever, Software – whoever etc…), with details generated from the list information

An approval email is generated and sent to the assigned approver

A condition control is run waiting for the approval response ( approve or reject)

If yes :

an email is generated to inform the Ideator that there idea has been approved , with comments (if any)

the list item is updated with the Approval response (approve), approval date, and any comments (if any)

approval process moves to next stage

if no:

an email is generated to inform the Ideator that there idea has been rejected , with comments (if any)

the list item is updated with the Approval response (reject), rejection date, and any comments (if any)

approval process ends (terminate control)

i can get it to run through the first approval process fine , but it just wont go past the second stage ...

i can get the Approval process to work without the parallel conditons (i had decided after getting it runnig to add them in) , so it looks like it must be something to do with adding the email address ..

i have uploaded a quick diagram of what im trying to achieve , and the error message recived

Re: Parallel flows and approval process

 Hi all,

sorry was off for a few days , it looks like everything was setup as it should , but i basically had to recreate the flow again in the excat same way and it all runs perfectly , i just tested and saved at each stage to try wittle it down , but works all the way through the stages ... i did read somewhere that there can sometimes be an issue when updating a person filed with and whoeve@whereever.com address... so maybe i just hit that glitch...

thansk again for the help much appreciated , i have no doubt i'll have more

Re: Parallel flows and approval process

Hi @Paddi,

The "Start an approval 2" action has run failed in your flow, could you please share more details about the error message in the "Start an approval 2" action?

Also you could check there is something wrong in the "Start an approval 2" action so the action run failed.

Best regards,

Alice

Re: Parallel flows and approval process

ok managed to fure out what i had done and why it has broken , i removed the person column for the content type , when i really should have hidden it ... but i have now created a variable list and pulling the email address across inot the approval action from there , a bit cleaner and probably easier to manage ....
