Please help! Invalid template - cannot be evaluated - property selection not supported on values of type 'string'.

i don't understand why all of a sudden i am receiving this error. The form did not change and the flow did not either.

As you can see I'm getting an error message during the send approval step.

The 'Format_number_hrly_rate' it's complaining about passes in that step successfully.

I converted the string to number and then formatted it.

Why am I receiving this error on all of my approval steps?

I even disconnect and reconnected the 'Approval' connection and that did not work.

Please help! 🙂

Hi!

By reading your error message, it seems inside your Approval' action block there is an expression like this one

body('Format_number_Hrly_Rate')?['body']

My suggestion is to replace it and use the following one instead:

outputs('Format_number_Hrly_Rate')?['body']

I've tested on my side, its the way 'Format number' outputs sintaxis looks now.

Since the first expression was working fine till now, I assume Power Automate engineers have opted to use new sintax for this action block output, and rolled out the swap recently ☹️

Hope this helps

It appears that this is due to the converting of a string to number (float integer) is failing. The fact that it's in the approval step i believe is irrelevant.

This used to work (2-3 weeks or so ago). Did something behind the scenes change for conversion of string to float integer?

Thank you. That was exactly the problem. I changed it and it worked fine.

However, when the flow errors out for any other reason, it automatically is putting the incorrect syntax/format back into the flow!

I've had to redo this correction over and over.  It sticks as long as nothing else fails.

It's been rather frustrating since i have several of these approval blocks using the 'formatted' value.

I sincerely appreciate the quick reply above and noting exactly what was going on. Thank you!

Weird.... sounds as if something's really wrong with the last rollout.

Open a ticket can take some time, so I am just guessing you can get rid of the action block and use an expression based on this equivalent function instead

Hope this helps
