Populating Word Templates from multiple lists with multiple items at once

Hi.

I need a flow order which.

1. Retrieves List A.

2. Retrieves images stored as attachments on List B where Column 4 on list B = Column 5 on List A. (There is only one attachment on each list item, if this matters.)

3. Pulls a standard Microsoft Word Template from Library C.

4. Populates that Template with info from List A and the proper image from List B.

I keep getting stuck in the loop hierarchy and I can't figure out what to do. An image of the flow is below.

Hi @amulhearn0207 ,

Thanks for your further explaination.

So you mean you want to trigger the flow every day to get Owner of each item from A, and then make a match to B to find corresponding person's attachment. Hope I make it correct this time 🙂

In my above demo, I just grab one item (of which ID is 35) from my list A for example. I store owner's name in "Title" column in A which you should replaced by "Owner" column. and I store user's name in "Title" column in B which you should replaced by your "TextName" column.

If you would like to get all items from list A, we just need to replace "Get Item" in Step 1 by "Get Items":

Then you can continue to deploy the flow as per my guidance in Step 2 in above solution.

Here is complete structure of my current flow:

Ok - actually i have the flow working EXCEPT for adding the dynamic image (the image is a .jpg of an employee signature - the image changes depending on who is "writing" the letter.

There is a field which comes from the "GetGuests" step which has the name of the employee (as a text field).

There is another list ('EmployeeSignatures') which has the employee name as a text field, and the signature image is stored as an attachment. There is only one attachment per list item.

I can't figure out how to properly structure this. I need the image to populate field A on the Word template, and a string to populate field B on that template.

Hi @amulhearn0207 ,

Here is my demo for your reference:

In my test, I will get user's name from "Attendance list". Then I will use the name to grab his/her attachments from "all users list".

1. Suppose we don't have repeat items in "all users" list, so that we can filter by user's name.

vwenjuanmsft_2-1680599062833.png

2. Compose a file identifier to get the user's attachment:

vwenjuanmsft_3-1680599383715.png

3.Use the file identifier to get attachment's content. Notice that before filling it in "Get file content"/File Identifier field, we need to encode it by below function:

encodeUriComponent(outputs('Compose'))

Hello @v-wenjuan-msft - thank you so much for this. It looks like it should help me a lot. But I have one question still.

You begin with "Get Item" - "Attendance List" and enter "ID" of "35". I don't know what expression or value to use here. There is only one entry for each employee name on the Signature List (with the employee's signature attachment) so this part is easy. But since the trigger will run daily, and the goal is to match to list "Guests," where the employee name may match more than once (as an employee may be responsible for more than one guest) I don't know what value to begin with in the initial "Get Item" step. Unless it doesn't matter?

Your clarification will be immensely appreciated. Thanks so much.

The Owner in A needs to match The TextName in B. B has unique values.
