Power automate extract zip file

hello to all community

I have this flow which is not working i cant figure it why

the flow is as follows:

1. When a file is created in my one drive for business (when i upload a file)

2. It check if the file has .zip extension

3. if yes extract .zip to same folder

the flow stops at the checking point (its always false although i have a zip file),  to my knowledge file path should contain .zip extension

or am missing on something

here is the solution and please at the condition to the trigger condition - cause if u use your way, the flow runs every time u create a file -> if u put the condition throw the trigger then it will only run if the condition is true

as u can see, the full filename with extension are in the header:

so u could use this like ->

@{triggerOutputs()?['headers']?['x-ms-file-name']}

but as i wrote, please use the trigger condition (as in the video) ->

@endswith(triggerOutputs()?['headers']?['x-ms-file-name'], '.zip')

Yes, I mean you should use Ends with in the condition.  But you also need to decode the file name or path that comes from the trigger. If you look at the output of the trigger you'll see that the path and filename are encoded.  So you need to decode them to search for .zip.  Here's the output of the trigger from my example.  You'll see that the filename and the path aren't in readable format.

Hey @chahineatallah

I tried it at my end too, and it worked.

Try one thing, add a compose action before the condition and add path, display name, media type, name. Check if other values are giving you that .zip extension or not.

I'm assuming you are using OneDrive for Business. The problem is that the FilePath is delivered as a Base64 encoded value by the trigger.  So you need to use DecodeBase64() around the file path to get the actual value.  I would also use Ends With rather than contains.

Strange, as its not extracting at my end :), anyways thanks for your reply

hi, thanks for reply, you mean i should use "end" instead of "contains",

DecodeBase64() is a function in power automate?

thanks, can you explain the "compose", what is its use? or its just an example

Hi,

For .zip segregation, you can use one condition instead of path-

Media type  is equal to application/x-zip-compressed
